The Essential Flux Technology For The Project Studio

The Studio Session Pack contains 8 plug-ins : Studio Session Analyzer, Bittersweet Pro, Pure Compressor, Epure, Pure Expander, Pure Limiter, Syrah, and IRCAM Verb Session

Every plug-in contained in the "Studio Session Pack" uses exactly the same engine as their respective "professional" versions but they have been limited to fit ONLY the needs of Music producers that rarely record over 96k, use multi-channel options, etc.

Products included in this Bundle

Pure Compressor offers everything you would expect from a compressor, ranging from clean transparent subtle processing to classic heavy pumping. In addition to the common standard compressor controls for attack, release, threshold and ratio, Pure Compressor gives you total control of the fundamental characteristics and essential dynamics profile used for the compression, with hands on controls for every parameter, all in order to achieve the ultimate dynamics processing in every situation.

Pure Expander is a powerful versatile processor capable of anything from mild expansion to hard noise gating, perfectly suited for soft downward expansion to clean up spillage on (live) recordings, remove noise, reverberation and leakage from drum sessions. Pure Expander is designed to automatically reduce the gain below the threshold, providing full control over the general behaviour, and of the performance characteristics and how it responds to the incoming audio signal.

Pure Limiter makes transparent limiting easy; a dramatic increase of the average audio level can now be accomplished without damaging the perceived audio quality, with the exquisite proprietary Flux:: technology generating a release envelope assuring that no artifacts on the processed sound are produced. Unless you use it as a special effect, Pure Limiter v3 should always be in the very last stage of your audio processing chain.

Epure is a state-of-the-art five-band equalizer designed to provide the absolute finest audio quality within the domain of digital audio processing, carefully tuned with Flux:: proprietary State-Space technology, to preserve the optimal signal to noise ratio independent of the parameter settings, preventing the signal from deteriorating when the gain is reduced. Epure is a powerful go-to processor for your day-to-day session work, as well as an efficient sharp-edged surgical precision tool for the most demanding equalizing and filtering tasks conceivable.

Syrah is a new generation dynamics processor using real-time dynamic detection and level dependent processing, to provide adaptive dynamic capabilities, which mean that Syrah is always trying to adapt its processing to the music and to the beat of the material. Using parts of our exquisite 'BitterSweet' technology, our new adaptive-dynamics technology, and our well-recognized level independent dynamics processing, Syrah is well suited as a creative versatile processor for recording and mixing, as well as for delicate and demanding mastering tasks.

BitterSweet Pro is built around a new improved design of the algorithm found in our acclaimed freeware transient processor, BitterSweet, used by hundreds of thousands of users all over the world, and the approach we had when designing BitterSweet Pro was to make it just as easy and straightforward to use. One of the main features of BitterSweet Pro is the Frequency Dependent Transient Processing, providing the ability to process only a certain part of the frequency spectrum making it act just like a dynamic equalizer driven by Transients and/or Sustain.

    Worth the money, but ...

The FLUX:: Studio Session plugins pass muster regarding fidelity, function and value and also provide some unique, if not innovative, features. Some "essential" and handy features included are: a. input/output meters and gain controls, b. A to B comparison with a blending slider, c. real time graphic displays of plugin functions and d. color changing rings around the control knobs that provide a quick and clear indication of the parameters' metrics. As such, the FSS compares well to other plugin bundles of this ilk but does come with some problems. While the GUI is straightforward some of the features are not and the support resources are woefully inadequate at filling in the gaps. Some of the links to the manuals are broken and I was only able to access the Epure EQ manual through a link I stumbled upon elsewhere. The on-line video tutorials also fail to inform on the plugins' features and serve only to illustrate a generic approach to mixing. We users are left on our own to figure out a disconcerting amount of the technology. The plugins also lack some basic human interface functionality such as using the scroll wheel to operate the controls and being able to resize the display area. While I think this bundle is worth the price of admission I also think FLUX:: has some work to do in bringing the plugins up to contemporary standards; especially in the area of support resources.
